For the Love of Trees

Job Title: Tree Climber

Here at For the Love of Trees we have Certified Arborists on staff and strongly believe in preserving and planting trees. We take our work very seriously and stress safety and best practices for both trees and workers as top priorities. We use a combination of climbing and bucket trucks to access trees. When pruning trees we never use spikes or other harmful methods of tree entry. We attempt to minimize our carbon footprint and use manual methods wherever possible. We are currently transitioning into a worker cooperative model where we empower all of our members and practice democracy in the workplace. We do not discriminate on any grounds and work with and for a very diverse WNY community. We take pride in our work and customer service is key to our success. We are thankful to serve WNY; the people and the trees in their yards are truly exceptional.

What You’ll Do:

For the Love of Trees is looking for tree climbers to join our team. We work out of Buffalo, NY but do not stop there; our work area is all of WNY. Our tree climbers are a key player in all tree care jobs performed. They must be able to work together cooperatively, take direction, take leadership when needed, and strictly follow safety procedures for themselves, the team, and property. Must have a good attitude and strong work ethic to work in a calm, friendly atmosphere while performing difficult tasks. We treat each other with respect and work out conflict when it arises. We work around 30-40 hours weekly, outside with the elements (rain or snow), and work long days (typically 9-10 hours). We offer $20-$30 per hour depending on experience and possible worker-owner status in the future.

What We’re Looking For:

  • Climbing Experience Required

  • Tree pruning based on ANSI A300 Standards

  • Properly prepare, maintain and safely operate all tools and equipment including hand tools, chainsaws, chippers, aerial lift and climbing gear
