2019 NYSA Annual Conference Header

Thank you to Attendees, Speakers, NYSA Board members, Sponsors and Vendors for another successful conference.

The 2019 Annual Conference hosted more than 300 arboriculture professionals for networking with vendors, sharing ideas with colleagues and attending a wide variety of education sessions on plant healthcare, invasive pest updates, trending safety practices.

MarkBays2Our keynote speaker, Mark Bays from Oklahoma Forest Service opened the conference on Sunday with an inspiration talk on the Legacy of the Survivor Tree, a native Elm tree that survived the 1994 Oklahoma City bombing.

In addition, two panel discussions were held that brought together executives from the three major tree industry associations, International Society of Arboriculture (ISA), Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and the American Society of Consulting Arborists (ASCA).

Their panel discussions focused on the advantages and benefits of obtaining industry credentials and their strategic mission for the next few years.

The education sessions featured a Cornell Pest Update from Dan Gilrein, Shawn Reed from Asplundh, Aaron Dickinson from Arborcology LLC, Jeff Picher, Keith Pancake of ACRT, Inc., Rebecca McMackin from Brooklyn Bridge Park, Rob Cole from NYS DEC Forestry Division, Benjamin Osborne from NYC Parks & Recreation, Fran Reidy of Dryad Tree & Shrub Diagnostics, LLC, Catherine Ahlers of NYS DEC Pesticide Bureau and Bill Logan of Urban Arborist.
