Beth Brantley
Beth is a Technical Support Specialist with Bartlett Tree Experts. Her key areas of responsibility include diagnostic support, research and public education in arboriculture, with emphasis in tree risk assessment, veteran trees, and wood decay. Beth has a PhD in Plant Pathology from The Pennsylvania State University. She taught forestry and related courses for more than 20 years at Penn State Mont Alto prior to joining Bartlett Tree Experts in June of 2019.

Wayne Cahilly
Wayne is the owner of Cahilly’s Horticultural Services, LLC based in Bergen County NJ. He is a Certified Arborist, Qualified Tree Risk Assessor, and Licensed New Jersey Tree Expert. For over thirty-five years Wayne has worked and taught in the tree care industry focusing primarily on pre and post failure analysis of trees in the context of litigation. He has also been engaged numerous times to consult on old, gnarly, veteran trees and to develop management strategies that maximize their value to the environment and site, while protecting the public from them. Wayne has also worked full time for The New York Botanical Garden where he has held positions in the science, horticulture, information technology, and capital projects divisions, and has served as Forest Manager, Lead Arborist, Arboretum & Grounds Manager, and Manager of the Institutional mapping Department. Wayne lives in Dumont, NJ with his wife, one of their five adult children and two cats.

James Chambrelli
Jamie is CT licensed arborist, Certified Tree Safety Professional, and a Lead trainer/presenter for ArborMaster. He has been in the tree care industry for over ten years. He actively competes in tree climbing competitions and is very involved in the industry, innovating and developing new products for arborists. Jamie owns and manages his own tree care company.

Don Gabel
Don is NYBG’s Director of Plant Health. He monitors, diagnoses, and prescribes treatments for all the plants growing on the grounds, as well as in NYBG’s beautiful gardens and glass houses. Don educates and provides horticultural advice to the staff as well as teaching the public about different aspects of horticulture. He lives in Rockland county New York.

Ed Gilman, Ph.D.
Dr. Gilman is Professor Emeritus of the University of Florida and Principle of Wood Architecture LLP.  He was on the faculty since 1986 as professor at University of Florida. He received honorary membership in ASLA in 2016. Ed wrote “Illustrated guide to pruning” in its third edition. He received Authors Citation Award in 1999, Educators Award in 2003, research award in 2007, and the Award of Merit (ISAs highest award) in 2016 from the International Society of Arboriculture. He has published more than 120 scientific peer reviewed journal articles on roots, planting, and pruning trees in 35 years in academia and industry. Ed has conducted more than 800 presentations to professional groups throughout his career. He now conducts training for companies and speaks around the world on arboriculture related issues.

Dan Gilrein
Dan is Entomology / Interim Associate AG Program Director of the Cornell Cooperative Extension of Suffolk County, Long Island. Dan’s areas of emphasis include research on control of insect and mite pests in food crops and on ornamental plants, providing diagnostic services to the region's horticultural industries, and leading educational programs and presentations for industry, government officials, civic groups and the public on pests and pest management.

Joseph Havranek
Joe is a Supervising Motor Carrier Investigator in the Motor Carrier Compliance Bureau of New York State Department of Transportation. He has been with the Department for over 20 years, enforcing the NYS Transportation law. He is certified with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (USDOT) to conduct all aspects of Road Side Inspection and New Entrant Safety Audits.
